As a highly trained, Holy Spirit-led therapist, I seek to bring balance in the lives of everyone I support as a counselor. My heart’s desire is that the individual, family, and community are transformed by the healing and wholeness they experience through counseling. During our sessions, your time and space with me is sacred. Regardless of what is shared, you can have confidence that no circumstance or situation is impossible to overcome. Every moment of your life is God-defined and designed to bring out the very best in you professionally, physically, emotionally, and most important, spiritually.

I realize that selecting a counselor and beginning the counseling process is not easy. Whether you’re dealing with relationship issues, anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, or other concerns, I would be honored to work with you. I count it a great privilege to journey with each of my clients toward overall personal growth with God’s help. I have years of experience working with teenagers, adult individuals, couples, and families and thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to watch the Lord work in hearts and lives through Christian counseling to bring about healing and restoration.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor

My aim as your counselor is to be a sounding board for you and an asset for insight and intuitive contemplation. I will encourage you to set goals for yourself, then I will help facilitate that goal attainment. When you successfully achieve your goal, my hope is for you to feel that you were your own change agent and that I was simply there for support while incorporating your beliefs and faith in the process.

What I Offer in Christian Counseling

I conduct counseling sessions organically and encourage you to dictate the flow of the session. Even if a pressing issue was processed in a previous session, I will support your desire to process through the psychosocial stressor of the day or week. You can expect me to ask, “How can I support you today?” to help you understand that you are in control of the process. Only when circumstances require me to take a more directive lead will I influence the direction that a session should go.

My Approach to Christian Counseling

The greatest benefit of a distinctively Christian approach to counseling is being aware and able to share with families, youth, and individuals that some answers are better explained and understood from a moral purview that is personal and intimate. I know that the faith of every individual is wholly personal with specific insights that may only make sense to the individual. I do not believe in cookie cutter Christianity. Because of this, my faith informs my practice in that everyone who shares in the process of counseling is unique and while their story may be similar to those of others, it is not the same and therefore must not be treated as such, just as the Lord is with us.

Testimonials

I’ve had a few different therapists, but none of them have the breadth of knowledge and emotional range as Geoff at Christian Counseling. I’m also not religious, but I still find that this space can be helpful for anyone.

Google Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If it weren’t for the genuinely endearing, dedicated services of this man my relationship and family would have ended. We came to his office teetering over the edge and he patiently guided us into a steady, solid meadow of healthy communication. In fact, when my spouse and I work through conflict today, we high five one another and say “Geoff would be so proud of us.” I am so grateful to Geoffrey Sherrell for his care, commitment, and ministry in service. If you are unsure about trying out counseling, PLEASE allow him to work with you. You will not regret it. I’ve already referred him to several of my friends and family. He is wonderful.
